Continuing My 1st Goal

I am so proud that I have continued with my first goal. Today, I'm baking another batch of Amish Friendship Bread. It's cooking in the oven right now and boy does it smell good. I wanted to think of something new to mix into it, and came up with an Applesauce and a Peanut Butter & Chocolate Chip loafs. I've had applesauce before when my mom use to make it and it's yummy. Though I never had peanut butter & chocolate chip, so I'll see what this tastes like.

My 1st Goal - Day 9 & 10

MY 1ST COMPLETED GOAL!!!

I have to sadly report, I missed day 9. I forgot to stir the mix. But it's ok, I did stir it today and made my first ever Amish Friendship Bread! First I separated it so I can share the starter with my friends. Then I continued with the recipe, which is...

1 c. Amish friendship bread starter
2/3 c. oil
3 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sugar

In mixing bowl, combine all ingredients. Bake in 2 well greased and sugared 9"x5" bread pans. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Additions (one or more to taste)1/2 cup)- Raisins, apple (chopped), crushed pineapple(drained), candied fruit, coconut, dates(chopped), nuts and/or chocolate chips may be added to batter before baking.

Then I mixed it together

I added mashed banana's and chocolate chips into it

Poured it into my pans

45 minutes later...

Yummy

My 1st Goal - Day 4

I'm doing pretty good so far on staying on top of my stirring. Yeah, I know, not that hard to do. But it's good to start small and not be overwhelmed. So today was just another stir day. Completed!

My 1st Goal - Day 1

Today is the first day to beat my underachieving way of life. My first goal is pretty simple, or in my mind I think it will be. I'm going to have to commit to a daily agenda. I'm making an Amish Friendship Bread Starter. This is a 10 day cycle of adding ingredients and stirring. Should be pretty simple.

Here is the recipe:

Ingredients
3 cups sugar
3 cups flour
3 cups milk

Directions
On Day 1: In glass or plastic bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour and 1 cup milk. Stir mixture with wooden or plastic spoon (don't use metal spoon or electric mixer). Cover bowl loosely with paper towel, cloth, wax paper or plastic wrap. Keep at room temperature (don't refrigerate).

On Days 2, 3 and 4: Using wooden or plastic spoon, stir mixture once each day.

On Day 5: Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour and 1 cup milk; stir.

On Days 6, 7, 8 and 9: Using wooden or plastic spoon, stir mixture once each day.

On Day 10: Add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour and 1 cup milk. Remove 3 cups of mixture and give 1 cup each to three friends. Save remaining starter for yourself.

I've just completed Day 1 of the Amish Bread Starter!
